A manager at Spendesk is responsible for the delivery of his team and the people within his team.

Start with Why? We are looking for analytical people who can understand and solve complex problems, challenge priority and make decisions based on data(e)The mobile app is used by thousands of users(e)It's an entry point for key Spendesk features like strong authentication, virtual card creation, manager approval flow..(e)As a manager, your role is to supervise the delivery of the roadmap with the Project Owner, organise the work with the team and plan for the unexpected.

Solve for the customer. We are a customer-centric company(e)You will work with a dedicated product manager, a designer and the support team to provide a first in class user experience and build the best spending app ever made for businesses.

Insist on the highest standards.As a manager, your team is your top priority(e)There are 6 experienced engineers(e)Mentoring is a key part of your responsibility, 1:1 perf review, short loop feedback are important(e)You also invest on team building, this year the entire team is going to Berlin for the Android Conf(e)You are also in charge of hiring the missing people in your team.

Be bold. In our fast-paced environment, every decision you'll make may have a huge impact(e)As a manager we expect you to have an impact not only on your team but also on the engineering organisation(e)Work with the head of engineering and CTO to help improve the tech side.

Team player. There are already 3 engineering managers(e)As we grow, you'll become a key member of the team, help more junior people to grow and become a trusted Spendesker.

Our stack
Our app is 100% Swift for iOS, 100% Kotlin on Android(e)Clean Architecture principles separated in module (framework), the code of the app is 1 year old and well tested with 99% free crash rate.

What we're looking for

  • At least 2 years of experience in native iOS development (Objective-C or Swift) or Android (kotlin or java) and some knowledge of mobile specificities (performance, network issues, etc.) We don't expect you to be a technical expert, as we have senior engineers for that(e)However, it's important for you to understand the challenges of the team.
  • Good knowledge in consuming REST or GraphQL APIs.
  • Autonomy, fast-learning and proactiveness.
  • People management experience(e)You've done 1:1 with your team, and are comfortable making feedback (continuous or during perf review cycle).
  • Project management experience is a plus(e)The team is quite autonomous in his organisation, however as a manager, you are responsible for the delivery.
