YOUR ROLE
You will be working hand in hand with the Chief Data Scientist in order to run a 200+ department within a growing scale-up(e)You will be in charge of the operations section of the department, currently two people, who own the reporting and change management(e)You will also manage a few other team leaders in charge of horizontal functions.
You will be in charge of drafting, implementing and tracking the staffing of the DS department totalling 200+ headcounts as of 2022(e)A strong background in tech management will be needed to rapidly get a deep understanding of how the teams operate, the client base as well as the strategy of the company(e)Staffing management experience is a near requisite as you will be making decisions on staffing priorities on a weekly basis(e)You will also need to design and implement an efficient budget plan for the department, the keystone to Shift’s success short and long term.
You will become the cornerstone of the tools, processes and mechanisms within the department and with the other departments(e)In particular, efficiency targets will require you to run change management initiatives such as structuring the technical processes and enforcing good practices in the team (releases, testing, branching policy, sticking to deadlines, documentation)(e)You will need both the ability to hear what others have to say and the ability to make individuals align with the global vision(e)Experience in leadership, management and/or consulting is a must have to be able to roll out these changes to the growing organisation.
