The Head of Procurement’s responsability is to design, own and execute OVRSEA’s buying strategy with its freight suppliers optimizing both price & quality of service.
As Head of Procurement, you will report directly to Arthur, our CEO & Co-founder, and you will manage a team of Procurement Managers who are responsible for negotiating and implementing shipment solutions on their assigned trades.
Your missions will be split in 4 parts:
Team Management - 30%
The Head of Procurement leads and manages a team of Procurement Managers
* Monitor the team’s performance through KPIs
* Contribute to continuous organizational improvements within the team and with other teams
* Manage and coach 3 persons, individual contributors
* Conduct recruitment processes when needed
Procurement Strategy - 20%
The Head of Procurement is responsible for defining OVRSEA’s procurement strategy for each quarter, depending on corporate roadmap.
* Assess and agregate the qualified needs for freight capacity implied by corporate business plan and operational strategy, but also by the clients and prospects pipeline and the operational field insights.
* Translate agregated needs into procurement objectives
* Prioritize procurement objectives in cooperation with OVRSEA’s executive committee
* Define the team’s quarterly strategy based on the prioritized objectives
* Implement and execute the quarterly strategy along with the team
* Provide regular updates to Sales and Operations teams on Procurement achievements
Partnerships Excellence - 30%
The Head of Procurement makes sure OVRSEA is always in the right position to obtain the best possible deals from ocean carriers and airlines to the profit of our clients.
* Cultivate a precise knowledge of all ocean carriers and airlines, with a focus on cooperation development levers, be it objectives or opportunities
* Develop new cooperations with ocean carriers and airlines
* Increase available capacity and improve price competitivity and quality of service with the existing network of ocean carriers and airlines
* Proactively & continuously push ocean carriers and airlines for competitive deals
* Follow up and support all ongoing negotiations led by Procurement managers
* Leverage a personal network to facilitate OVRSEA’s access to information and deals
Operational Excellence - 20%
The Head of Procurement ensures the perfect implementation and use of all obtained deals and constantly improves the related quality of service.
* Improve the deal implementation process, so that each deal obtention quickly and efficiently turns into actual operations
* Maximize the use of all obtained deals - in particular, maximize the fill rate of ocean allocations
* Increase the quality of service linked to running deals, in cooperation with the Procurement managers.
Requirements
- You have a minimum of 10 years experience, including significant management experience
- You will have good interpersonal and project management skills to successfully align the entire procurement team around OVRSEA’s global challenges
- You will be able to work in a team environment with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility.
- You are a proactive person and you are not afraid to take on concrete operational tasks
