As Qonto Lead Commercial Counsel IP/Contracts, you will have a global overview from a legal standpoint of all aspects of Qonto’s business in 5 jurisdictions with France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Serbia(e)You will be in charge of managing commercial law, contract management, and IP/IT practices with the assistance of a team of 3 people and if needed with the assistance of external counsels.

You will join the Legal Team, under the supervision of Alexia, our VP Legal, and you will also work closely with the Corporate and Marketing teams.


👩‍💻🧑‍💻 As a Lead Commercial Counsel at Qonto, you will

Draft and negotiate commercial contracts in French and English (such as NDAs, services agreements, commercial and tech partnership agreements, software and license agreements, PAAS/SAAS, SLAs, etc.): in cooperation with the operational teams, you will review, draft and negotiate various types of commercial contracts, bringing specific expertise in IT/IP law and GDPR issues you will regularly update our General T&Cs and the client's contracts.
• Take part in the implementation and monitoring of GDPR compliance, particularly on the contractual side.
Define a legal strategy: You will work with the VP of Legal in order to eliminate or mitigate risks and manage Qonto’s disputes/litigations in coordination with our Compliance and Internal Control team.
Monitor, analyze changes and act: You will have to stay updated on legal and regulatory changes that could impact the business and you will suggest action plans.
• Supervise and improve Contract Management & Purchasing Process
• Prepare and deliver training of operational staff on various subjects (labor law, personal data law, marketing, contract law).

Her path?
Prior to joining Qonto, she spent 10 years working for international law firms, mostly based in Paris, but also in Tokyo and London with a strong focus on Corporate - M&A.
After her arrival, she was tasked as a General Counsel to create the Legal team from scratch and build our processes(e)Now, as our VP Legal, she is leading a growing team of 20 people.
Her scope not only includes France but also our international markets (Italy, Spain, and Germany)

What she can bring to the team?
Alexia has significant experience in scaling legal functions, including the implementation of legal tech.
Passionate about her job, she will support you in developing your skills and your integration within the team.
By working with her at Qonto, you will also work on strategic Legal projects, the latest being the recent Penta’s acquisition.

🏅 About You

Experience: You have 5+ years of experience with relevant experience in a top-tier law firm or as a lawyer in a tech company (start-up/scale-up)
Academic Background: Degree in French law, admission to French Bar is a prerequisite(e)You have a Master of French Business Law preferably(e)Specialization in IT / New Technology Law or Intellectual Property Law and good knowledge of GDPR is a plus
Business-oriented: You are able to put use your legal expertise in perspective with Qonto’s business and always provide recommendations that are business oriented
Communication: You have strong oral and written communication skills and a good sense of diplomacy
Analytical mind & rigorous: You have well-honed organizational and analytical skills to quickly elaborate key findings, form opinions, and make decisions
Curious mindset: You are intellectually curious, open-minded, adaptable, a fast learner, excited by a dynamic startup environment, and keen on legal automation
Mastery: You master encountered legal issues related to digital platforms and GDPR issues
Languages: You are fluent in French, English, and Italian(e)Mastery of another European language (Spanish, German) is a definite plus
