Pennylane is building the financial OS (Operating System) for European SMEs(e)A single source of truth for financial data, used on one side by entrepreneurs to run their business (invoicing and getting paid, paying suppliers and expense management, piloting cash and profitability) and on the other side by their accountant for bookkeeping and fiscal declarations.

Saving time for all entrepreneurs and accountants, helping them to make the right decisions and enabling 3rd parties to offer added-value personalised financial services.

We’ve launched in France and will expand to other markets in Continental Europe in 2023(e)Our commercial website is thus in French only but the code is obviously documented in English and our tech team speaks English.

We’re product-led, growing fast, backed by strong investors and are starting to hire software engineers anywhere in Europe, to join our experienced remote-first engineering team.

The company's HQ are in Paris, but the whole Product team is remote-first(e)You are thus free to work from wherever you want in Europe or work out of our central Paris office based in Liege.

In a nutshell: we are building the best financial management and accounting software for continental Europe and changing the life of entrepreneurs and accounting firms.

👪 Team and context

Our design team has scaled up from 4 to 15 people since January 2022(e)We have now built strong teams and looking for an experienced leader to help shape the department and take it to the next level. 

We currently have 2 tracks of 6 squads each with 1 Product Designer per squad (from junior to senior) and 2 Lead Designers per track to manage people and bring quality and consistency in the delivery(e)

The Product Design team is integrated into the product entity, alongside Product Managers(e)In order to build balanced duo for our squads, we've made sure that our Product Design ratio to a number of Product Managers is 1:1.

🥇 You’re the right candidate if…

  • You have managed design teams in line with company culture and values(e)As here, you will be managing 15+ people, so it’s important that you have experience conducting 1-2-1 meetings and leadership.
  • You have experience in working in an Agile environment, working cross-functionally with other teams and liaising with C-level colleagues on decision making.
  • You have experience with recruitment and are able to look out for the hiring needs, using best practices.
  • You have done product strategy management and have collaborated with multiple teams within company(e)
  • You have understanding and experience in budget management for the team and salary reviews.
  • As we grow, it is important to build a strong company brand and communicate it onto the consumers.
  • Strong expertise in establishing processes and sharing best practices with the team to inspire and bring the creative vision into reality.
  • Some examples of tools we are using here at Pennylane are: Slack, Notion, Github, Figma, Miro, Harvestr, Metabase
  • As our product is quite complex, you'll be a part of an autonomous and experienced team.
  • You will be a thought-leader in Product Design field, representing company and industry events, conducting workshops and representing Pennylane’s Design vision.
