We are looking for an experienced engineering leader to manage one of ourInfrastructure teams(e)The team’s goals are threefold:
-Build and scale our infrastructure to deliver a reliable service to our customers
-Maintain a health infrastructure
-Provide the tools and environments that enable other engineers to build our product
Through building tools and products for other engineers, our Infrastructure teams act as a team multiplier - think auto-scaling, horizontal sharding, scalable storage systems, application performance monitoring, and more.
To be successful in this role, you will manage a team of talented engineers to deliver on an ambitious roadmap, lean in on technical design and implementation, scale the team by attracting and hiring talented engineers as well as coaching future engineering leaders, and obsess about making the teams and their processes scale efficiently.
This is a very collaborative role where you will partner closely with our CTO, architects, engineering managers, and our software engineers, in San Francisco and other locations.
What will you be doing?
- Grow your teams by coaching developing engineers and by attracting and hiring top talent
- Drive and deliver on our roadmap, helping your teams understand the product evolutions and preparing our systems to host them reliably
- Partner with architects and engineers to design the next generation of our infrastructure
- Obsess about the architectural design, implementation, and quality of the work your teams produce
- Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Front’s engineering management team

- You’ll join engineering team responsible of the availability a product used by over 7,000 companies and 100,000 users across >100 countries, who spend an average of 2.5 hours a day in Front,
- The work of the Client Platform team can significantly accelerate the pace of product development across a 100+ EPD organization.
- Your work will accelerate 70 others engineers’ work across the world.
- The Infra team is responsible of the health of ~10,000 Kubernetes pods at peak traffic, that we redeploy ~20 times a day, and the storage of >1PB of email data and 20 MySQL shards

What skills and experience do you need?
- Effectively recruited, mentored, and retained top talent
- Strong track record of running teams that deliver projects of significant complexity and high levels of ambiguity

- Industry experience building highly available, large-scale distributed systems at a large-scale internet service
- Experience working on software systems built atop Amazon Web Services
- Fluency in a dynamic language like Javascript, Python, Ruby, or similar
- A pragmatic mindset and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, low-ego and high-growth environment; you work well with all kinds of personalities and with teams across multiple geographies
- Experience architecting, deploying and operating asynchronous work queues, high-volume storage systems, high-throughput systems: you should not be afraid of writing code that will decide to start or stop 1000 servers
- Understand the trade-offs in employing different engineering solutions to a problem, valuing pragmatism over idealism
- Clear, structured thinking and excellent communication skills

- Experience scaling data stores such as MySQL and Elasticsearch
- Advanced Linux systems engineering skills
- Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
