ABOUT THE ROLE 

The Workshop Manager will be an integral member of the team ensuring maximum efficiency and productivity while maintaining appropriate safety, security, and cleanliness of the workshop areas(e)He/she will be responsible that equipment users in the workshop have the appropriate training and tools to use it professionally and safely while delivering high-quality work(e)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare, supervise, and control workshop activities, including the scheduling of work based on product timelines
• Assist all Technicians and Apprentice Technicians in the diagnosis of mechanical problems
• Ensure that Technicians and Apprentice Technicians are using their time effectively and efficiently
• Ensure all supplier equipment/machinery is presented back to the supplier in a clean and presentable standard
• Check and inspect that all tools are available and maintained in the correct place and that all equipment is in suitable working condition
• Maintain an inventory of equipment, machines, tools in the workshop area
• Control and set workshop behavioral standards
• Advise all new and existing staff of policies and procedures and adherence to these policies and procedures
• Assist toward keeping the workshop area clean, orderly, and attractive in appearance
• Set a regular workshop cleaning schedule highlighting employees' specific duties
• Schedule and apply maintenance routines based on equipment specifications and warranty documentation
• Make suggestions to management for improvements to the Workshop
• Maintain a well-trained workforce and supervise in-house training as required
• Ensure the development and progress of all apprentices
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner
• Assist in coordinating the after-hours and weekend on-call roster.
• Day-to-Day Management of warehouse duties such as receiving, issuing, and dispatching goods
• Heavy Lifting, carrying and travel may be required

QUALIFICATIONS

Soft Skills

• Speaking/writing proficiency in English and French
• Strong verbal communication skills
• A reliable and punctual work ethic
• Able to work unsupervised and use initiative
• Make suggestions for improvement as appropriate

Technical skills

• 5+ years of experience in a workshop/hands-on setting
• Sound knowledge of workshop procedures
• Sound knowledge of inventory and storage processes
• A high level of fabrication/manufacturing experience
• High competency with hand and power tools (including but not limited to milling, drilling, welding, sanding, cutting processes)
• CNC Operator or experience/knowledge
• Experience welding different materials
• Maintain a high degree of product knowledge on all equipment
• Excellent diagnostic skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Tool inventory and equipment tracking software experience 
• CAD drawing experience

OHS

• Follow housekeeping, safety, and security procedures that result in a safe and attractive environment
• Maintain adherence to Industry standards
• Strict adherence to safety and security measures

Licenses

• Current forklift license (additional heavy equipment experience is a plus)
• Current driving license
