ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Structures Engineer, you will join the team to work on the design, development, and build of our Low Earth Orbit product line(e)The scope of work encompasses a full design cycle, including conceptualization, design, analysis, manufacturing and testing for primary and secondary structures.
The ideal candidate has previously worked through the design and assembly of aerospace components for missions to space (launch vehicles, rovers, satellites, CubeSats, etc.).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to scope projects including requirement capture and initial design trades given open-ended problems.
- Experience with full design cycle including conceptual, design, analysis, manufacturing, and testing for mechanical systems and structures going to space.
- Work hand-in-hand with ECLSS, Software, and Assembly engineering teams.
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing and machining.
- Knowledge of electro-mechanics including motors, valves, and fluid control components.
- Understanding of system impacts to component design decisions including packaging, thermal, environment, and loads.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, manufacturing engineering, materials engineering, or mechanical engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in the aerospace industry.
- Hands-on project experience with intricate mechanical systems.
- Experience with CAD, FEA, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
- Understanding GD&T and manufacturing processes.
DESIRED:
- Master's degree in aerospace engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 7+ years of mechanical or structural design and analysis experience.
- Understanding of failure modes.
- Working knowledge of thermal and structural FEA studies.
