Location: You can join us either in one of our offices in Hamburg, Berlin or Barcelona or 100% remotely in one of the 11 countries where we have a legal entity**

Your tasks:

  • You will report directly to the Chief Marketing Officer and will lead and continuously develop a team of highly qualified Heads that manage Regional Marketplace teams (three regional teams that manage actions in markets), Central Marketplace teams (Pricing, Marketplace Operations, Central Demand / Supply Working groups) and Marketing Research / Competitive Intelligence
  • You and your teams are responsible for (a) steering spend across marketing buckets, (b) deciding and executing on pricing initiatives and incentives (which are demand and supply actions to trigger marketplace volume growth) (c) monitor marketplace health and (d) manage, conduct and share research around our customers and competitors
  • Work with local country teams and central Marketing, Operations, Finance and Product teams to establish and drive customer and driver acquisition, retention and engagement, product improvements and budget allocation as well as being accountable for the results  
  • The combination of the above named tasks leading to a growth of our revenue as well as the bottom line in all our countries. 

Role of VP in Regional Marketplace Performance (MPP):

  • Responsible for topline revenue, contribution margin, and efficiency / effectiveness of actions taken by Regional MPP teams
  • Validate market-centric commercial decision-making following recommendations from Regional Cluster Heads and other main Marketing and Operations stakeholders
  • When needed, support escalating critical market or cluster needs to company’s Senior Leadership
  • Provide input on Free Now’s value proposition definition for both passengers and drivers in our different markets

Role of VP in Central Marketplace Performance:

  • Provide guidance to the Pricing team and ensure that they: 
    • Develop & oversee the roll-out of the company’s pricing capability vision
    • Develop & deliver the company’s pricing strategy 
      • Price positioning, monetization, effective fare value management, driver earnings management
    • Guide & steer the production of best-in class pricing analytics
    • Provide continuous pricing insights, analysis and learnings to stakeholders
    • Streamline pricing management processes and establish frameworks and playbooks
  • Provide guidance to the Marketplace Operations team and ensure that they: 
    • Monitor marketplace performance and identify performance issues
    • Ideate solutions to these issues
    • Lead the solutioning on certain topics
    • Facilitate the prioritization of product requirements with the Regional MPP teams
    • Consult and work with Product teams on product-based optimization
    • Define marketplace analytics frameworks and dashboards
  • Central Demand / Supply:
    • Continuously improve the efficiency of our incentive spends together with central growth & product stakeholders
    • Find new innovative ways to increase the effectiveness of demand / supply incentivisation
    • Leverage cross-market learnings on demand / supply initiatives 

Role of VP in Market Research and Competitive Intelligence:

  • Good understanding of & interest in Market Research, Customer Experience (CX) & Competitive Intelligence function & processes
  • Sparring partner for Head of Market Research & Competitive Intelligence and be on top of the latest state-of-the art research methods
  • Empower and support the research team in building an insight engine
  • Ensure the integration of consumer insights in strategic decisions to drive customer-centric marketplace performance & business growth

Your profile:

  • Proven track record in managing the health and size of an on-demand marketplace business with a focus on revenue + profitability
  • Budget and P&L responsibility north of 100M Euro per year 
  • Extensive experience in Europe is essential but not mandatory within an app/platform/marketplace business working across multiple 5+ markets with local operations
  • Passion for changing the world through disruptive digital products and services
  • Strong commercial mindset
  • Willing to work in a high-growth and fast-paced market where change is the only constant
  • Successful track record of Budget / P&L responsibility 
  • An outstanding track record of delivering measurable results 
  • Excellent understanding of state of the art pricing techniques, market trends, data and customer insights analysis, targeting models, testing and segmentation
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills in a fast-paced and demanding environment following a hands-on and anticipation mentality
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, drive and the ability to influence
  • Proven experience in leading a team of highly qualified managers
  • Exceptional analytical skills(e)Very comfortable with data  
  • Desired: have experience in startups, mobility, travel and/or launching new businesses in competitive environments
  • Excellent communication as well as presentation skills
  • Complete, over-the-top fluency in English
