A few words about the Growth Operations team at Gorgias
The Growth Operations team is at the root of the entire Growth structure: we act like internal consultants for the other Growth teams (Marketing, Sales, Business Development, Success, Product) for all data-related projects, from complex data analysis to building custom automations for them.
Our role is to empower all teams to make decisions using data, to enable them to automate what can be automated and focus on the areas of their work in which they truly make an impact, as well as to make sure that all teams are aligned in their objectives and how they execute them(e)The Growth Ops team is also in charge of improving core processes that maximize each team's efficiency.
As a manager of the Finance & Strategy team, you will have a key role in the company's long-term strategy for our upcoming growth challenges: you will be leading our business planning, forecasting and validating team budgets with the goals they set have out for the upcoming quarters and years, as well as working on analyzing the efficiency of our growth and retention initiatives(e)By providing guidance and direction to team leads and the top management, you will be aligning our different teams' goals with our general development strategy over the long term and at scale(e)
?As we are building this team from scratch, you will be managing a Business Operations and Strategy analyst currently based in San Francisco, and we will also be hiring for a financial analyst.
? Examples of ongoing Strategy projects include:
- Working on the pricing of new feature that we will be rolling out in 2022
- Running customer research to optimize our current pricing
- Evaluating our growth opportunities in existing and new markets
What you will do
- Business Planning: Lead strategic and financial planning processes (e.g(e)monthly & quarterly reviews, budgeting, forecasting) ; build and own financial forecast models ; work on the decision making of resource allocation and prioritization.
- Financial Insights: Help go-to-market team leads and the leadership team by giving them the tools to gain deeper insights into the revenue and margins they are generating across markets, lead segments and billing plans, and how that compares between the different acquisition channels ; guide the Success & Product team leads with insights on our adoption and retention trends across several segments (plans, types of customers) ; sharing all results with the leadership team directly.
- Business Strategy: Identify, drive and measure growth and retention initiatives including working on our pricing, finding ways to improve our margins, analyze our TAM and provide insights on where to go next, assessing new products or features for our value proposition, acquisition targets
Who you are
- 3-5 years of experience in investment banking, private equity or strategy consulting at a top-tier company
- Strong quantitative and technical skills including complex financial modeling and data analysis using tools such as SQL, MS Excel, or Python.
- Robust working knowledge of accounting and financial reporting standards
- Proven ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strategic mindset, strong ability to adapt the presentation of action plans & research findings to top management
- Nice to have: previous experience in a similar position (Finance & Strategy, FP&A, Strategic Finance etc) in a fast growing tech startup
- Nice to have: knowledge of B2B SaaS environment ; knowledge of or interest in the ecommerce environment
