Your Mission
Data plays a central role at BlaBlaCar, to enhance users' experience of our products and fuel business with actionable insights(e)Inside the Tech department, the Data Services are composed of 40+ people covering all the scope of data skills (Data Analysts, Data Engineers, Software Engineers, Data Scientists specialized in ML or in optimization)(e)The services are now organized following Data Mesh principles, distributing data ownership to domain-specific teams that manage, own, and serve the data as a product.
As a Data Scientist specialized in optimization, you will work inside the squad dedicated to our Bus offer(e)You will design, implement and improve advanced optimization algorithms to transform the way BlaBlaCar Bus operates.
What will you directly contribute to:
- Design and implement new business constraints in the existing optimization algorithms
- Challenge current modelling approaches and test advanced optimization methods (Benders decomposition, Constraint programming…) to improve runtime of existing algorithms
- Build new optimization algorithms for the Operated Buses team(e)Example of projects to be launched: optimal driver scheduling algorithm, Line design optimizer, Optimal cadencing computation tool …
- Interact on a daily basis in a fully agile setup with the Bus Data Team, sharing your findings and results with the rest of the team
- Work hand in hand with talented Back End and Front End Software Engineers to integrate your algorithms in production
Qualifications:
- Degree in mathematics, statistics, Operational Research, Machine Learning, or Engineering(e)To have taken courses related to optimization, especially Linear and Integer programming
- Proficiency in Python, including a good knowledge of Pandas library
- Knowledge of a Python-based optimization modeling language, such as PuLP, Pyomo or Gurobi, Py is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of Git is preferred
- Fluent in English (French is not mandatory)
