Team:
As a Data Scientist intern, you’ll be part of <vpTech/> and the Data Science department along with 15 other colleagues(e)The Data Science team is currently working on the following projects:
- Forecasting: time series prediction, demand prediction, pricing, catalog ranking
- Customer eXperience Optimisation (CXO): recommender systems for the home page and communications
You’ll be part of the CXO team along with 7 other colleagues: 3 Data Scientists and 4 Data Engineers(e)The team is fully cloud-native, working with Google Cloud Platform products such as BigQuery, Cloud Dataflow, Cloud Dataproc, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Bigtable etc.
Context:
On Veepee’s homepage, multiple sales are available at a given time(e)However, some of them are more relevant to a customer than others(e)Our main goal is to provide a personalized ranking of sales to each customer according to his/her affinity(e)The main scope of the personalisation algorithm is the home page, in which we have most of the traffic; but we also personalize daily and weekly communications to the customer.
The issue:
When the traffic is very high, it can happen that the calls to our ranking algorithm are cut to save loading time(e)Without our automated ranking, we rely on a manual ranking to have a decent homepage.
However, the manual ranking is about to disappear and we need to replace it with an automated backup strategy(e)In order to do so, we aim to use the predicted popularity of each sale to rank the homepage for every user(e)Predicting the popularity of a future sale is not trivial and needs information on the products, their past popularity and many other features.
Your mission:
The goal will be to analyze the current baseline and enhance it to be efficient enough to put it in production(e)Specifically:
- Understand which features are more important and feasible for a good model performance
- Explore different ML solutions and optimize hyperparameters
- Deploy your model in dev/test environments and provide a real-time evaluation
Your skills :
- Fluent In English (French is a plus), good communicator
- Python (Tensorflow, Pandas, Sklearn)
- SQL
- Knowledge in machine learning (Regression, Classification, Neural nets ...), an experience is a plus
- Interest in software development
- Experience with Git is a plus
- Strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems
- Be autonomous and resourceful
- Be eager to learn new technologies and put projects into production
This offer is available from September 2022 for 6 months.
